@daddy12345 actually, no point. its just that eveyrone was praising this movie so much, and then when i saw it, i realized it was Othello, which made me a little upset, because as much as i love bollywood, it always copies off hollywood ..

I don’t know why people all over the world are crazy about Oscar awards and they think that this is the ultimate recognition. I rate our India’s national awards as the real awards. Oscars are much biased to the American movies. Its just like USA’s filmfare awards. So people (especially some Indians), please stop getting excited about Oscars. Its an over rated award.
What a great movie. Saif, Kareena, Vivek, Ajay, they all did a great job in acting.

@chiragatronacious.. I presume when you say Westerners only like movies showing little kids in poverty, you are referring to Slumdog millionaire. Well, I think you only saw poverty in that movie, you didnt see the struggle by Jamal to have a better life for himself and his love. Not only him, but his brother albeit through different means and with a different view point.
For the movie to be nominated to the Oscar foreign language category, it has to be first nominated by the respective country for the competition. I dont think either of them were sent by India.
As for other categories, members of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a professional honorary organization first nominate their choices , from which the nominations are chosen based on voting. Another rule – the movie has to have opened in a Los Angeles county theater.
